State of Phishing 2021

Information is the lifeline of any business. The use of internet has resulted in faster exchange of information, resulting in smooth online business transactions across the globe. Organizations deploy latest technologies and controls to protect this information. Hackers are always in pursuit to find a loop hole and to steal the confidential information which results in either a financial or a brand reputation loss to the organization.

"State of Phishing Readiness Middle East & North Africa 2021 "
Phishing remains the most destructive threat vector where hackers try to bypass the technology controls and lure the end users to click a link or download a file which triggers a cyber-attack. The question remains why phishing is the most potent threat vector despite having the best of breed technologies in place. Are technology controls such as email gateways enough to stop phishing or is it a problem related to end user behavior? What role end user awareness can play to mitigate phishing attacks?
In May 2021, PhishRod commissioned CyberCentric to determine the state of readiness against phishing across the Middle East & North Africa. CyberCentric surveyed over 340+ cyber security decision makers to get an insight to the impact of phishing & strategies used by CISO’s in the Middle East to thwart phishing attacks. Below are some of the key findings from the survey.
Key Findings
- Phishing: Most Destructive Threat Vector
- Everyone is the Target
- Awareness: People are part of the Solution, not the Problem
- Time taken to thwart a phishing attack determines the impact
- Need for Automated Phishing Incident Response
